Tags and editor handoff

Label selected clips and carry editorial intent into supported editing-project exports.

Tag a selection

  1. Create and review a cut or clip selection.
  2. Select the clip you want to label and use the tags available in the workbench.
  3. Check that the intended clip carries the label before changing the selection.
  4. When handing off an edit, choose the supported EDL or FCPXML option and inspect the imported project in your editing application.

Tags label a selection, not the original speech

A tag such as Hook, Keep or B-roll describes your editorial intent for a clip. It is not a replacement for transcription, a searchable frame index or a verified statement about the source.

A new rough cut can replace the current selection. Check the labels on the new selection instead of assuming that every tag follows every regenerated clip.

Keep the media for a handoff

An interchange file is an edit description, not a self-contained finished video. Keep the referenced media available and inspect the timeline, tags and boundaries after importing into the target editor.
