MCP and agent integrations

Connect an external agent to the local Bonframe workstation, discover its tools and review changes before delivery.

MCP is optional for the desktop workflow

You can import, translate, review and export in Bonframe without connecting an agent. MCP is an additional interface for supported external agents, including Cursor and Codex. Keep the workstation running and authorize the connection on the machine that processes your footage.

Connect on the same computer

  1. Open Bonframe and its MCP connection control. If the agent is already connected, do not repeat setup.
  2. Use the connection prompt or open bonframe://mcp to begin the supported local authorization flow.
  3. Complete any connection confirmation shown by Bonframe or the agent client. Reload the client if its configuration changed and the tools have not appeared.
  4. Ask the agent to discover the available capabilities and list recent projects before starting a write operation.

The connection prompt does not contain your access token. Do not paste credentials into a public conversation.

Discover the supported tools

Use get_capabilities to discover the current tools and workflow options. The MCP surface includes project lookup, transcript and library search, source ingest, editing proposals, persistent video workflows and exports. Capabilities and entitlements can differ between installed versions.

For production work, identify the existing project and review its state before requesting another job. run_video_workflow uses the same persistent workflow as the workbench; inspect its current options rather than assuming a fixed parameter list from an old example.

Find my most recent interview project.
Show its transcription and indexing status.
Find the passage about the launch decision and return timecodes.
Do not apply changes or export yet.

Review before applying and exporting

Read-only lookup and a proposed edit are different from changing a playlist or exporting a file. Review the proposal in Bonframe and use the approval and confirmation steps required by the current tools.

Ask the agent to report task status and the output location after an approved operation. Review the complete exported video yourself before delivery.

Prepare a proposal using the reviewed passages.
Keep the reasons, owners and deadlines in their original context.
Show me the proposal before applying it.
Wait for my approval before exporting.

Batch jobs and translation tasks

For a folder or several projects, use the supported import and persistent-batch workflow. Inspect imported projects, review proposed items, approve the intended items, then apply and export as separate stages.

For translation, state the target language, the intended speakers and whether lip sync is required. Check the discovered workflow options and model readiness. A successful tool call is not evidence that the final dialogue or face mapping is correct.

Connect an office laptop only when needed

Same-computer setup does not need LAN pairing. For a separate office laptop, use the MCP device and pairing controls on the workstation, check the displayed permissions and revoke unused pairings.

Media and local models remain on the execution workstation. Requested transcript excerpts, search results and tool output can be returned to the connected agent. The external agent service has its own data handling; local media inference alone does not prevent that exchange.

MCP is the supported integration entry point

Use the tools exposed by the installed MCP server. Internal application HTTP endpoints are not a stable public REST API contract. A historical Coming soon API page should not be interpreted as meaning that MCP is unavailable.
